Demo Artist: Cheryl Barr — Watercolor
ince childhood, I have enjoyed drawing and painting. I took all the art courses offered in high school and got a B.A. degree with an art major. I went through a dry period but continued other creative pursuits. In 1989 I began working part time as a secretary. This let to graphic design of in-house publications. Inspired by a friend, I realized that the artistic life I desired wouldn't come without my prioritizing it. I attended part time classes at the Atelier in Minneapolis to develop further skills. The parable of the talents confirmed in my heat that art wasn't only okay but what God wanted! I believe that God put talents within each of us as part of his design. He gave me art for my own enjoyment as well as to share with others.
Now I am a freelance artist, illustrator, and co-leader of Art Klatch with GCA. I belong to several art organizations including Blain Arts Council, Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts and Great Commission Artists (GCA). Currently I work primarily in watercolor but also enjoy using oil, acrylic, pastel, ink, and pencil. Capturing life's tender moments bring me great joy!
